The right age to start learning programming is…

As a programming instructor, I often get asked – “What is the right age for kids to start learning programming?”.
“The earlier, the better”, I reply.

Although many of our classes are designed for kids entering 5th grade (10-11 yrs old), I firmly believe that no age is too early to learn programming. Programming is not about writing code or making a cool website. It’s not about building a search engine or making a mobile app. Programming is about critical thinking, problem solving, and understanding logic. From that perspective, you can expose young learners to programming at any age.
